The Parodius series is another wonderful classic SHMUP series of side-scrolling shooters. As the name implies, Parodius started out as a parody of the Gradius series, never taking itself too lightly, and often filling its stages with beautiful women and caricatures of Gradius enemies. 1996’s “Sexy Parodius” even went after other Konami titles, including Castlevania!
